Director of Experiential Learning, McChrystal Group
November, 2019
"I had the pleasure of collaborating with Rob Krolikiewicz to design and execute our McChrystal Group Leadership Venture in November, 2019. These ventures combine adventure education with personal and professional development and offer opportunities to build cohesion between teammates. This venture took us to Yosemite National Park for a 4-day excursion with twenty-three team members and challenged people to think about how they connect with others and their environment. Planning begins months in advance and incorporates diverse elements to maximize engagement. Throughout both planning and execution, Rob was a consummate professional and offered invaluable insight and expertise to enrich the quality of the experience.
During the preparation phase, Rob was a creative thought partner in supporting our team’s goals. We aimed to give people a robust outdoor experience and wanted to tie an element of formal learning amidst intellectual conversation. We brought in Rob and were immediately impressed with the quality of his programming and flexibility. He was approachable, easy to correspond with, and an active listener. Once we determined scheduling and locations, Rob made set up and break down seamless and easy.
While on site in Yosemite, Rob went above and beyond to connect with our team before and after his portion of the schedule. During his classroom instruction, our group (consisting of hikers with mostly low or zero experience) learned about the survival priorities and recommended tools. During the live session the next morning, we assembled shelters, constructed fires, and learned the basics of navigation and signaling. Throughout, Rob remained the expert facilitator – demonstrating proper technique, encouraging experiential learning, managing time, and leading debriefs. Both the classroom instruction and live session ranked among the highest rated activities in our standard post-event survey taken by attendees.
I am excited to see K12 Survival Solutions continue to push boundaries and bring quality programming to individuals and teams around the world – Rob has my strongest endorsement."
